Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford

After School Program

Sign up for fall programs.

Our Club’s programs aim to enrich the development of children of all ages.

Thousands of our community’s youth depend upon the Club for social and recreational activities including Education, Athletics and Computers. The Club will continue to work in conjunction with other agencies such as the New Bedford Public Schools, Bristol County Sheriff’s Department, the New Bedford Police Department and UMass-Dartmouth to provide needed services to our youth. Working parents need the security of knowing their children are safe, supervised and productive at the Club. Our youth are our community’s most valuable asset.

As we have in the past been the beneficiaries of tremendous community support, we look to another program year inviting active involvement and promoting an atmosphere that encourages positive thinking.

“Kids like our programs because they’re fun and parents like them because they’re safe, reputable and reliable.”

Our Programs

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford’s programs are developed in response to the local needs of children, youth and families in the Greater New Bedford Area. Kids like our programs because they’re fun and parents like them because they’re safe, reputable and reliable. Our Club’s programs aim to enrich the development of children of all ages, by fostering in each child a sense of belonging, personal empowerment, achievement and self-confidence.
Club programs also address the need in our community for providing children and youth with a safe, stimulating place to go – particularly during the vulnerable after school period between 2:30pm – 6:00pm. This is when young people, left unsupervised, are at the highest risk of being victimized or drawn into delinquent or criminal activities.

Physical Activity, Health & Safety

Physical and Emotional Health

Boys & Girls Clubs have always known the importance of physical recreation for New Bedford area boys and girls. With child obesity increasing at an alarming rate, not only is it critical to life-long health, studies also show that having access to recreational and social programs outside of school, positively impacts children’s peer relationships, emotional adjustment, conflict resolutions skills and academic performance. The Club encourages daily physical activity through a variety of programs.

Learning & Career Development

Success at Learning

The Boys & Girls Club of Greater New Bedford wants young people to be able to embrace the future with confidence and plenty of options. For today’s children, a good education is critical to finding work, achieving financial security and being able to contribute to society as adults. Through access to technology, tutoring and academic support programs, clubs give young people opportunities to strengthen and acquire new academic skills, test their abilities and enhance career readiness, as well as develop a thirst for life-long learning.

Leadership, Growth & Empowerment
