Bruce J. Oliveira was a proud New Bedford resident, who grew up in the Brickenwood Housing Project on Malden St. He spent much time after school at the Boys and Girls Club of New Bedford. Throughout his adult life, Bruce gave back to his community in both large and small ways. When he committed to something, he was in for the long term. He coached little league baseball for 32 years, was a member of the New Bedford Housing Authority for 35+ years and a School Committee Member for 13 years serving New Bedford’s students.
The Oliveira family would like to offer scholarships in his name, to students who have either:
~ lived in housing served by New Bedford Housing Authority
~ been a member of the Boys and Girls Club of New Bedford
One $1500 scholarship will be awarded in each category.
